Aishah, 18, and seven other students from Cardiff Sixth Form College in United Kingdom, will take part in the competition to design a city in space that will be home for over 10,000 people.
"It is very exciting as I get to work with people from all over the world as a team. We will be in different groups or companies and will be divided according to skills in communication, automation, marketing, human resources and operation.
"The college's executive director, John Price-Thomas, said the competition would test the students and help them to explore their potential.
"Each company will be headed by someone from Nasa or a chief executive officer from a company in the US," he said.
Aishah, who specialises in graphic design, is also the only girl on the team and had previous experience with a similar competition that was held in Imperial College in Britain.
"We had to create a transport vehicle that could carry people and goods to Mars, with full engineering details and it had to cover all the requirements."
She hoped the experience would help boost her credentials and ultimately enable her to achieve her dream of getting a place in Oxford University.
Sixteen teams from around the world were selected to participate in the programme.
Aishah and five members of her team -- Mpho Molosiwa and Victor Manisa of Botswana, Ryan Tam and Andy Kwok of Hong Kong, and Kareem Lewis of Bahrain -- along with other students from Cardiff, were here on a goodwill ambassador programme organised by the college. - NST
