KOTA KINABALU: Claiming that he was sexually aroused after watching a pornographic video, a 15-year-old boy from the interior district of Keningau allegedly sodomised a 3-year-old girl, who is his cousin.
The incident allegedly took place on Monday, but the teenage boy was arrested on Wednesday following a report lodged by the victim's mother.
Keningau district police chief Deputy Superintendent Zahari Mohamad said the toddler's mother lodged the report after discovering red marks around her daughter's anus while bathing her.
He said the girl cried while she was being bathed and kept mentioning the boy's name when the mother asked her about the marks.
"The boy was detained and later admitted that he became aroused after watching the video, and wanted to try it out on the girl.
"In a separate case in Kota Marudu, another 15-year-old boy was detained for allegedly sodomising his 10-year-old friend while they were bathing in a river in Kampung Marasimsim at 2pm last Wednesday.
Kota Marudu district police chief Deputy Superintendent Mohd Isa Yusof said the suspect was arrested at his house after the victim's mother lodged a report.
He said the victim claimed he tried to fight off the suspect, but was overpowered.
"We've sent the victim to the district hospital for examination and are waiting for the result before completing the investigation." - NST
